The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to discontinue subjects like Communicative English, information and communication technology, and an elective subject of e-publishing and e-office for Class IX from the 2018-19 academic year.
The board has also decided to discontinue the teaching of Kerala’s Mohiniyattam dance, multimedia and web technology, which are offered as a subject to Class XI students, from the 2018-19 academic year.
The CBSE, in a notification, said, “Schools are advised not to offer these subjects in classes IX and XI from the forthcoming session of 2018-19.”
The board, however, clarified that the students who are studying these subjects currently in Classes IX and XI will not be affected by its decision.
From this year, three subjects-agriculture, fashion studies and mass media studies will be offered as vocation electives in class XI, the board added.
