Some private schools managements in Andhra Pradesh are following exhaustive timetable to conduct classes from as early as 8.00 am for students from class VI to X. Adding to the woes of the exhausted students, the schools are extended the classes up till 6 pm.

In addition to the regular classes, the schools are also holding back students till 8 pm on the pretext of special classes.

Most of the students studying in private schools in Andhra Pradesh are going through harsh lifestyle.

As per the State government norms, the private schools must follow the academic calendar proposed by the State education department. They are mandated to start school at 9 am and end at 4 pm.

T Srinivas, Incharge of Private schools section, School Education Department, said, “All schools have to follow guidelines of the education department. But we hear that some schools are operating for long hours and making students stay up to 7 pm in the name of study hours and tuitions. We certainly take action on such schools but even then, they get back to their timetable after a week or so. We are thinking of alternative ways to stop the excess timings of schools.”
