ASGARDIA HAD INVITED PEOPLE TO APPLY FOR CITIZENSHIP AS THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS BEING ACCEPTED AS A NATION STATE BY UN.
Would you like to be a citizen of a space nation? For real?! After years of growing up watching Star Wars, Interstellar, Star Trek, The Martian and much more, here is a chance for us mortal humans to understand and enjoy the privilege of being a space citizen!
Asgardia is an independent and fully-fledged nation, the first of its kind, with prospects of being recognised and accepted by the United Nations as one its members. It has everything that makes a nation entitled to be one – a flag, a national anthem, democratically elected government, insignia, embassies, a constitution, and more! In fact, the only thing it does not have, at least for now, is a geographical space to call its own.
Asgardia, as mentioned before, will have its own constitution and a governing body. Hence, it will not be under the control of existing nations. Asgardia had invited people to apply for citizenship as the first step towards being accepted as a nation state by UN. Today, the number of Asgardians is over 210,000! Would you like to apply as well?
Asgardia aims to protect our earth from space threats. Worry not! If those watching aliens decide they don’t like us anymore, we have a whole nation gearing up to protect us. Our very own Guardian of Galaxy!
Unfortunately, they aren’t doing real estate in space (not right now, anyway!). So we have no way of making a home in outer-space.
“The essence of Asgardia, as conceptualised by Dr Igor Ashurbeyli, is of peaceful coexistence of all ‘Earthlings’. The space nation aims to do this by maintaining peace in space and not letting the conflicts on earth reflect outside it. The idea is to create a mirror of humanity without the numerous divisions of race, religion, and nations”.
